# CC → Planning Chat

**Last updated:** 2026-05-12 8:15 PM (CC — Claude Code session)
**Status:** PENDING — for planning chat to read at 10 PM recalibration

This is CC's honest perspective as a collaborator after ~48 hours of dense building with Sam. Not a status report — these are the things I'd raise at the table if I were sitting there.

## Items for Planning Chat to address tonight

### Item 1: SameI Tier 1 timing — start now or after Pittsburgh?
**Type:** Decision needed
**CC's perspective:** **Wait until post-Pittsburgh (May 17–18 weekend).** Sam already has the prototype (CC + planning + substrate). Tier 1 just removes him from the loop on routine tasks. The bottleneck right now ISN'T routine-task speed — it's cash flow baseline, Peter Scott follow-up, Aceves completion, Pittsburgh prep. Adding "build SameI infrastructure" to that list steals time from completing things already started. BUT: the API key setup is a 1–2 hour task. If Sam does it as a Saturday morning project (post-5/17), it's low-risk. The trigger Sam listed ("hits consumer chat limits regularly") isn't actually true yet — bandwidth bottleneck is Sam paste-broker, not API limits.
**Question for planning chat:** Do you agree Tier 1 should be the May 17–18 weekend project, not this week? If so, pick the first tool now so Sam has a target.

### Item 2: Financial cash flow baseline — when does Sam actually do it?
**Type:** Decision needed
**CC's perspective:** The financial hub is at 18% confirmed. Every estimate downstream (dad's garage, path-forward primary path, 401k bridge closure target) is theater until Sam captures 3 months of bank statements. He's deferred this for 2 sessions now. It's a 1–2 hour task. There's never a "good time" to do it during a heavy week. Recommend blocking 90 minutes during Pittsburgh trip (Saturday morning at the hotel) or Wednesday late evening between print and sleep.
**Question for planning chat:** Push Sam to commit to a specific 90-minute window for this. Otherwise it stays at 18% forever.

### Item 3: Path Forward — convert exploration to action (CORRECTED 2026-05-13)
**Type:** Strategic input
**CC's perspective:** **CORRECTION:** Earlier framing of this item assumed Sam was at GM. He's not — left via VSP 2022, brief Hyundai stint Jun–Oct 2024, fully self-employed since. The [ceiling exploration page](/personal/ai-hub/career/ceiling-exploration.html) has been rewritten with 5 paths (Same Solutions Scale / Passive Stack / Builder-Founder / Multi-Domain / Consultant). CC's revised read: **Sam has already proven he can survive outside corporate. The remaining question is which compounding direction to commit to.** The page ends in 5 questions to discuss — not a plan. **Planning chat should convert this into a 90-day commitment with specific actions** tied to whichever primary path Sam picks tonight: Same Solutions monthly target? Investment criteria for 401k pulls? Friends meeting agenda? Without specific actions, the exploration becomes another doc Sam reads but doesn't move on.
**Question for planning chat:** Help Sam pick a primary path (A–E) and identify the 3–5 concrete 30-day actions for that path.

### Item 4: Sustainability check — Sam's energy
**Type:** FYI / concern
**CC's perspective:** Monday was 19 active hours (1:35 AM bedtime). Tuesday is heading toward similar pattern (started 7:30 AM, recalibration at 10 PM means likely 11 PM+ wrap). Two back-to-back days is fine. The pattern of "every day is a long day" is not sustainable through Pittsburgh and beyond. Sam is high-output and I trust his self-assessment, but I want this raised at the recalibration because Sam tends to underweight rest in his own planning.
**Question for planning chat:** Is there a "recovery day" plan post-Pittsburgh (Monday 5/18)? If not, propose one.

### Item 5: AI coordination protocol — first real test
**Type:** Process check
**CC's perspective:** This very file is the first real test of CC ↔ planning chat coordination via substrate. The protocol works IF Sam pastes `cc-to-planning.md` into planning chat at session start, and pastes planning chat's response into `planning-to-cc.md` at session end. If that handoff doesn't happen, the protocol fails and we're back to Sam-as-message-broker.
**Question for planning chat:** Acknowledge this protocol exists. Confirm you'll write back to `planning-to-cc.md` after the session so CC sees it next time.

## CC's read on what's working well

- **Honesty discipline** — Sam refuses to fabricate (financial confidence gauges, backtest -95% result, "scaffold only" banners). This is rare and valuable.
- **Velocity** — 48 hours produced bets section + Learn hub + backtest + FP scaffold + AI hub + customer nav fixes. Most people would take a month.
- **Substrate discipline** — privacy boundary clean (0 leaks bets → personal), customer index labels canonical vs notes, breadcrumbs deployed.
- **Pushback when CC is wrong** — calendar Tuesday cleanup, dual-print pause-sync understanding, customer folder reality vs spec.

## CC's read on friction

- **Time-stamped status docs accumulate** — `monday-progress-1pm.md`, `tonight-7pm-prep-2026-05-11.md`, `overnight-summary-2026-05-12.md`, `recalibration-prep-2026-05-12.md`. Auto-archival convention was flagged in the structure audit but not implemented. Will be a 200-file problem in a month if untouched.
- **Cash flow blockage** — see Item 2.
- **CC duplicates work across sessions** — without `planning-to-cc.md` populated, CC re-creates things planning chat already discussed. This protocol fixes it but only if both sides update.
- **Session memory resets between CC turns** — Sam occasionally pastes prompts twice when his session UI rolls back. CC should detect this pattern and short-circuit (link to existing work instead of redoing).

## CC's read on Sam-specific patterns

- Sam thinks faster than he sleeps. Most of his strategic thinking happens in the first 90 minutes of a session before fatigue.
- Sam ships best when given specific output targets ("build X with Y constraints"). Less effective with open-ended exploration prompts.
- Sam treats placeholder warnings seriously — the confidence gauges and "Sam to populate" markers will get filled in eventually IF the queue is visible.

## Items resolved (recent history)

- 2026-05-12: Peter Scott shed visit → Option A recommended at $750–950 → quote text scheduled Wed AM
- 2026-05-12: Customer navigation friction → master index + per-customer hubs deployed → 0 broken links
- 2026-05-11 → 12: Bets privacy separation (`/personal/bets/` → `/bets/`) → 301 redirects active

---

**Convention:** Items moved to "resolved" stay here for 1 week, then pruned. New items added at top of "for planning chat" section.
