Two SENIOR battery roles applied to · both Milford MI, hybrid 3x/week · eligible again as of 2026-07-01
Two irons in the fire alongside Robo (see company-research + comp-framework). Both GM roles are AI/data-heavy — Sam's heavy-AI-usage differentiator is genuinely relevant, not a gimmick. Both are senior IC seats → comp anchor = GM Level 7 ($140-190K); do NOT undersell.
1. Technical Specialist — Battery State Estimation CLOSED — role filled 7/14
Update 2026-07-14: this role (JR-202611969) is now FILLED / no longer available. Applied 7/6; did not advance. Focus shifts to the SSLE role (below) + a few more GM/related applications (upcoming, not urgent).
req JR-202611969 · Milford MI · hybrid 3x/week
Leads SOC / SOH / SOP state estimation for HV battery systems: algorithm development + embedded SW + validation + the battery data pipeline/analytics. A senior IC leadership seat (Technical Specialist = individual-contributor technical leader).
Strong fit: Sam's 10+ yr GM battery / EV validation + DFSS Blackbelt + MS EE. The AI-usage differentiator maps directly — data pipelines, virtual validation, analytics, automation are the exact surfaces where shipping software fast with AI is a force multiplier.
Lighter spot to address in the interview:C/C++ embedded is a required skill and Sam's softer area. Frame it honestly: strong on the algorithm/validation/data side, ramping on embedded C/C++, and AI-assisted development closes that gap faster than a traditional ramp (he ships working embedded-adjacent software now).
SSLE = senior IC across the full development lifecycle: requirements (Requirements-First / BDD / Given-When-Then), SSTS/BTS documents, DFMEA, MBSE, agile/Scrum, embedded controls + calibration.
Strong fit:SAFe 5 cert (SAFe is a PREFERRED qual — call it out), DFSS / DFMEA background, systems + validation + calibration experience, and requirements rigor. Preferred quals Sam hits: SAFe, calibration/controls, safety-critical / ISO 26262 familiarity, requirements/change tools. The requirements-first / BDD framing matches how Sam already works.
3. Comp anchor
Both TS and SSLE are senior IC roles → GM Level 7, ~$140-190K base band. Sam should not undersell — his GM tenure, certs (DFSS Blackbelt, SAFe 5), MS EE, and the AI differentiator support the top half of that band. Keep this consistent with the Robo anchor ($160-185K W-2 / $145-185/hr) so the two threads don't undercut each other.
4. Next actions
Message Luke + Adam (internal advocates) about these two reqs + any other openings — lead with the AI-usage differentiator.
Interview prep: TS role — rehearse the honest C/C++ embedded framing (algorithm/validation strength + AI-accelerated embedded ramp). SSLE role — lead with SAFe + requirements-first + DFMEA.
Robo in parallel: follow up with John Lubig / Dom / David DiMeo on meeting timing (consider emailing today; Sam may drive to Owosso for the fridge Wed).
SAM-FILL: application confirmation #s / status for each req · whether he messaged Luke + Adam · interview prep notes (esp. the C/C++ embedded framing for the TS role) · any recruiter/HM contact.
