3 · The honest tension — speed vs. gentleness

The Recoil 2 (your lean) is a 25+ mph brushless deep-V. It self-rights — which is the key kid feature — but it is a genuinely quick, hobby-grade boat, not a toy. For a 7-year-old, that means:

Upside: he won't outgrow it; it's exciting; the self-right button saves the day; Spektrum support + parts are excellent.
Watch-out: at 25+ mph it gets away from you fast on open water; first runs want an adult on the sticks or a big calm area. It's a "with Dad" boat at first, not a hand-it-over-and-walk-away boat.

The Vector XS is the opposite trade: slower, cheaper, basically indestructible, truly hand-it-to-the-kid. Less wow, more independence.
