This is a NO-SEW job: the Hydro-Turf cover is pre-sewn — you just staple it on. (The pontoon corner-seat is the sewing job — see the marine vinyl sewing guide.)

Fitment
2000-2002 GTX / 2000-2001 GTX DI
Fitment gate: buy a 2000-2002 GTX / 2000-2001 GTX DI listing. AVOID 2002+ "GTX 4-TEC" — different seat, wrong fit.
1. The cover — match the factory TWO-TONE (gray front / red rear)
Correction (2026-07-21): the factory seat on this 2001 GTX DI is two-tone — GRAY front section / RED rear section, NOT plain black. An earlier note here recommended a black diamond cover — that is superseded; a black cover would not match the OEM look. Buy a red/gray two-tone cover.
Three good OEM-match options, all under $300. Recommend #1 for value, #2 for the exact match.
1. BlackTip Jetsports — RED / DARK GRAY best value
The factory red/gray two-tone colorway, model-specific, ships ready to install.
Amazon: B009LNJUBC (verify the 2000-2001 GTX DI fitment + red/gray colorway).
2. Hydro-Turf GTX '00-02 — 3D CUSTOM builder exact match
hydroturf.com has a 3D custom seat-cover builder: pick each panel color + thread to match the exact gray-front / red-rear layout — the MOST OEM-accurate result.
Standard "colorway" versions ship in ~1 business day; CUSTOM takes ~5-10 business days. Under $300.
FINAL SALE / non-returnable once purchased — confirm the colorway (red/gray) + the 2000-2001 GTX DI fitment before ordering.
Going Hydro-Turf CUSTOM? ORDER SWATCHES FIRST — screen colors differ from the actual vinyl.
2. Staples
1/4" STAINLESS MONEL staples — ~$15-20.
NOT galvanized. Galvanized staples rust through in the marine environment and stain the new cover from underneath. Stainless monel is the correct fastener.
3. Foam check — do this BEFORE ordering
Foam is sold separately. Sam thinks his is still good — confirm it first, because it decides the cost + time.
The 60-second check
Pull the seat off the ski.
Thumb-press the riding zone: full spring-back in 1-2 s = good. Slow / stays dented = tired foam.
Check the underside for staining / moisture (waterlogged foam).
Check the edges for crumbling / breaking down.
PASS → cover + staples only
Order the cover + monel staples. ~$120 total, ~1 hr to install.
The three sources + links are in section 1 above (BlackTip red/gray, Hydro-Turf custom, Atlantic).
Confirm red/gray two-tone + 2000-2001 GTX DI fitment on the listing before you buy — covers are final sale.
Hydro-Turf CUSTOM: order swatches first (screen colors differ) and allow 5-10 business days.
5. Install — for the OEM look
Do this first:PHOTOGRAPH the old staple pattern + the edge folds before you remove anything — that is your map, and the factory staple line is your guide for a stock result.
Remove the old cover (and foam if replacing); note the corner folds from your photos.
If replacing foam: glue the 3/4" foam with Super 77, let it tack.
Dry-fit the cover; align the GRAY/RED panel SEAM to the factory front/rear break on the seat (from your photos) before you staple — getting that seam on the factory line is the whole OEM look.
Staple center-outward, opposing sides (front-back, then side-side), keeping tension even so there are no wrinkles.
Pull taut so the panels + pattern run STRAIGHT — a crooked/skewed seam is the #1 non-OEM tell. Check the lines are square as you go.
Follow the factory staple line (same spacing/positions from your photos) so the underside looks stock too.
Work the corners last: trim + tuck clean per your photos (no bunching).
OEM-look checklist: red/gray two-tone cover · gray/red seam on the factory front/rear break · panels running straight · even tension, no wrinkles · clean tucked corners · factory staple line followed.
Staple order: center of each side first (opposing pairs), then outward to the corners, even tension throughout.
Budget: the two-tone red/gray options run ~$100-130 (BlackTip, ready-to-ship) up to under $300 (Hydro-Turf custom builder). All comfortably within Sam's $300 ceiling. A far-higher price usually means a with-foam kit or a wrong-year listing — double-check before buying.
SAM-FILL: which option chosen (BlackTip red/gray vs Hydro-Turf custom) · did the foam PASS the check? · exact cover + cost + source · order date · install date.
